What is TalkTrade
TalkTrade is a voice-first front end for the custom forms in your ServiceM8 account.
A tradie speaks through what happened on the job. TalkTrade fills out the form — every field, in the right place, formatted properly — and pushes it back to the ServiceM8 job card.
It works with whatever forms are already set up in the account. Whatever a partner has spent hours configuring for their client — TalkTrade reads the form structure straight from ServiceM8 and fills it from voice.

The form-fill problem in ServiceM8
ServiceM8's mobile form UX shows one field at a time. Tap, type, next. Tap, type, next. It's accurate, but it's slow on a job site, especially when:
The form has 30+ fields
The tradie has dirty or wet hands
They're trying to fill it out in a roof cavity, under a sink, or on a ladder
They've got three more jobs that day
The result is that tradies skip the form, fill it out badly, or do it at 8pm at the kitchen table from memory. Custom forms partners have spent hours building — forms that should be the daily habit of the business — end up underused or filled out wrong.
This is the gap TalkTrade closes.
How TalkTrade fixes it
Two layers of UX improvement before voice fill is even considered, and a third on top.
Layer 1 — Scrollable, all-fields-visible interface
When a tradie opens a form in TalkTrade, every field is visible at once on a single scrollable screen. They can see the whole form, scan ahead, jump to any field, and tap directly into it. No "next field" loop, no swiping through 30 individual screens to find the one they want to edit.
For tradies who prefer to type, this alone is a significant improvement on the standard SM8 mobile form experience.
Layer 2 — Voice fill
The tradie taps the mic and talks through the job in plain English. They don't need to follow the form structure, name fields, or speak in any particular order. They just describe what happened.
TalkTrade matches what they said to the right fields and fills them in. The job location, the workers on site, the dates, the equipment used, the materials, the hazards, the controls, the test results — every field that was in the partner's form, populated from a single voice note.
Layer 3 — Cross-form intelligence
Because TalkTrade sits across all the forms on a job, one voice note can populate multiple forms in sequence. The same description can fill a job notes form, a checklist, and a sign-off — all linked to the same ServiceM8 job card.
Competitors copy data between forms. TalkTrade starts from the unstructured input and writes to all of them at once.
How it works with ServiceM8
TalkTrade is a native ServiceM8 integration via the official API. It reads and writes to the SM8 account in real time:
Custom forms auto-fill from voice. No reconfiguration of the forms themselves — TalkTrade reads the form structure straight from ServiceM8 and matches voice input against the actual fields the partner has set up.
Job cards receive the completed form attached and ready to send.
Photos and signatures captured in TalkTrade flow through to the ServiceM8 job alongside the form.
Existing partner setups stay intact — custom price books, branded templates, automation rules, Xero sync, all unchanged.
The partner builds the form once in ServiceM8. TalkTrade makes it usable.
